I. REFLECTIONS

Globally the mindset is virtually the same. FCS. The elements of food clothing is relevent to live for life and all economic classes; but its even greater the pendant in the culture of poverty. To some of our own experiences, to what is witnessed in the media, this essay bears as a reflection; the account of the “hood” is global. With some the more intense regions breathing via the states and the among the western hemisphere:

“Cité Soleil (Kreyol: Site Solèy, English: Sun City) is an extremely impoverished and densely populated commune located in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area in Haiti. Cité Soleil originally developed as a shanty town and grew to an estimated 200,000 to 400,000 residents, the majority of whom live in extreme poverty.[1] The area is generally regarded as one of the poorest and most dangerous areas of the Western Hemisphere and it is one of the biggest slums in the Northern Hemisphere.”-

One of the more intense examples. In  indepth research to cite soleil i found this community of roughly 400,000 plus is “virtually is devoid of schools, healthcare,  sewers stores(retail)….i was amazed at this community’s perpetuated impovershment; complete with recent years of U.N clashes against the prescence of gang violence, and criminal activity. In spite of the sharp contrast of economic class in haiti, this is a community seemingly left to its own destructive resources for generations to do 1 thing: survive by any means.

The people who live in favelas are known as Moradores da favela, or pejoratively as favelados. Favelas are associated with extreme poverty. Brazil’s favelas can be seen as the result of the unequal distribution of wealth in the country. Brazil is one of the most economically unequal countries in the world with the top 10 percent of its population earning 50 percent of the national income and about 34 percent of all people living below the poverty line.”-

Another reflection is the steep and deep valleys of south america.  With major cities as Rio, and Sao’ Paulo, along with its mutli-cultural plain, and metropolitian glories, on the other side of the tracks exists a vast  population that  deals the same socio-economic cards. Within the different regions of favela communities throughout brazil, its condusive to drug wars,  gangs etc. With the acknowledgement of any regions demographic challenges, most understand what is likely to occur in any society in an impovershed state. In light of reform for the plight of brazil,  The current president(newly elected) has made it publicly known to fight poverty; along with international economic/medical/scholastic aid  to the favela communities.

“In response to the riots of the mid-‘60s, Walter Thabit was hired to work with the community of East New York to develop a plan for low- and moderate-income public housing. In the years that followed, he experienced first-hand the forces that had engineered East New York’s dramatic decline and that continued to work against its successful revitalization. How East New York Became a Ghetto describes the shift of East New York from a working-class immigrant neighborhood to a largely black and Puerto Rican neighborhood and shows how the resulting racially biased policies caused the deterioration of this once flourishing area.A clear-sighted, unflinching look at one ghetto community,How East New York Became a Ghetto provides insights and observations on the histories and fates of ghettos throughout the United States.”-

“People in search of a life”-Marc Dorsey. The above reference is a publication written by author Walter Thabit, providing a testament of East new york,  Brooklyn. Just another portriat of some america’s ghetto’s.  In so many ways they speak for themselves through statistics. As i stated before the culture of poverty is a coined term; Which applies indiscriminate of nationality or ethnicity to  a society’s social actions, or reactions to economic struggle or underdevelopment.  Though the culture of poverty in its degrees, has a relationship with government, and major social issues, this essay is also written in ultimate regards to human life; in retrospect, the current, and the future. Its also written in  consideration of this sociological view in an ever changing world; for understanding, and in every  society the overview of livelihood.  The culture of poverty can be self-fufilling in nature, but those who understand it globally have the opportunity to set the alternatives.  Peace.

Consciously yours,

Z.A
